A square frame draws the eye horizontally — exactly what a wide face usually doesn't need more of. The trick is a soft-square: the structure and architecture of a square, but with rounded corners that soften the horizontal pull. The Woolet 009 is built on a 158 mm soft-square front in Italian Mazzucchelli acetate, with a 22 mm keyhole bridge and 150 mm temples engineered for 153–163 mm faces. Optical $190; sunglass, blue-light and reading lenses $210.

Woolet 009 — Soft Square
Soft-square Italian acetate frame, 158 mm wide with a 22 mm bridge. Bespoke from 145 to 160 mm.
Soft-square, not hard rectangle. A hard 90° square corner on a wide face emphasises width. The 009's softened corners read as structured but not boxy — the architectural look without the harshness. It is one half of the full range of oversized glasses.
158 mm front for genuine oversized scale. Most 'oversized square' frames on the high street top out at 145–148 mm. The 009 sits comfortably on 155 mm+ faces with room at the temples instead of pressure.
54 × 50 mm lens area — large enough to anchor the silhouette and accommodate progressive prescriptions without peripheral distortion.
22 mm keyhole bridge distributes weight on a wider nose without slipping. Standard 16–18 mm bridges on fashion squares pinch at oversized widths.
Italian Mazzucchelli acetate, hand made in EU. A square silhouette only looks premium when the bevel edges and corner radii are cut by hand. Injection-moulded squares always look cheap up close.
Bespoke 145–160 mm if 158 mm still isn't wide enough. Same acetate, same shape, scaled to your measurement, hand made in the EU.
Both shapes ship at 158 mm wide with a 21 mm bridge, engineered for faces in the 153-163 mm range. Outside that, bespoke covers 145 to 160 mm with the same 21 mm bridge. Use our AI Fit Wizard to confirm the right fit for your face.

Do oversized square glasses suit a wide face?
Yes, but only if the corners are softened. A hard-cornered rectangle on a wide face exaggerates the width; a soft-square (like the 009) keeps the structured look while balancing the proportions. Front width also has to be at least 155 mm — most 'oversized squares' are too narrow.
What is the difference between square and rectangle frames?
A square frame has roughly equal height and width per lens; a rectangle is noticeably wider than it is tall. The 009 sits in the square-to-soft-rectangle range (54 × 50 mm) — broad enough to read as architectural, balanced enough not to drag the face horizontally.
Can I get the 009 as prescription glasses?
Yes — single-vision, progressive, blue-light filter, or sunglass tint. The 50 mm lens height gives progressives enough corridor depth, and the acetate handles strong minus prescriptions without edge thickness becoming an eyesore.
Are oversized square frames in style?
Yes — the soft-square has been one of the dominant eyewear silhouettes for the last few seasons. The 009 takes the trend and scales it properly for wide faces, where most fashion brands stop at 145 mm.
How is the 009 different from the round 007?
Same front width (158 mm), same Italian acetate, same 150 mm temples — different silhouette and bridge. The 009 (soft-square) has a 22 mm keyhole bridge and reads as structured; the 007 (round) has a 21 mm bridge and reads as softer and more classic. Pick by face shape and personal style.
What do oversized square glasses cost?
$190 for eyeglasses with demo lenses ready for your prescription, $210 with UV400 sun, blue light or reading lenses. Bespoke at any width from 145 to 160 mm starts at $480 with lenses included.
