Oversized at most brands means a slightly larger lens on the same 140 mm front. Woolet's oversized sunglasses are properly oversized: the front itself is 158 mm wide, with a 25–26 mm keyhole bridge, 150 mm temples and lens area sized to match. Two shapes — round 007 and soft-square 009 — both in Italian Mazzucchelli acetate, hand made in EU, $210 with UV400 sun lenses.
Woolet 007 — Round / Panto
Round Italian acetate frame, 158 mm wide with a 26 mm bridge. Bespoke from 145 to 160 mm.

Woolet 009 — Soft Square
Soft-square Italian acetate frame, 158 mm wide with a 25 mm bridge. Bespoke from 145 to 160 mm.
The two failure modes of oversized eyewear on men are equally common. Either the lens is large but the front is still narrow, so the frame pinches the temples and only looks oversized in photos. Or the front is wide but the lens is tiny, which produces the unflattering too-small face effect. Woolet scales both axes together at 158 mm — see the full range of oversized glasses.
If you have ever bought sunglasses that fit your face but felt loose at the temples after an hour, the cause is almost always plastic rather than acetate. Cellulose acetate holds its set; cheap TR-90 and injection-moulded plastic loosen under heat. At 158 mm of front width, that effect is amplified.
Pricing matches the rest of the line: $210 with UV400 sun lenses, $190 for the same frame as eyeglasses with demo lenses ready for your prescription. The AI Fit Wizard confirms 158 mm is right for you, or run the credit-card manual method if you prefer not to use the camera.
Bespoke is available for face widths from 145 to 160 mm, in four shapes. Same Italian Mazzucchelli acetate, hand made in the EU to your measurement, from $480 with lenses included.
Lens choice is a lens-level decision, not a frame-level one — but on oversized sunglasses for big heads, the geometry matters more than on a standard-width pair. A 158 mm front exposes more lens surface to side glare and reflected light from car hoods, water and wet roads, so coverage at the outer edge of the lens does real work.
UV400 sun lenses (included at $210). Category 3 grey or brown tint with 100% UVA/UVB protection, cut to the 158 mm front. The lens sits far enough out at the temples that light does not leak in at the side, which is the usual complaint with a 145 mm frame on a wide face.
Blue light as an alternative lens. Also $210, on either shape. A blue-light filter is an optional lens coating, not a medical device — the 2023 Cochrane review found no measurable benefit for eye strain or sleep. We sell the measurement, not the coating.
Prescription sun. Take either frame to your optician for tinted single-vision or progressive lenses; the 53 × 47.6 mm (007) and 54 × 44 mm (009) lens area leaves room for a progressive corridor. You can pick the shape on the 007 round or 009 soft square product page — the 158 mm geometry is identical.
Both shapes ship at 158 mm wide with a 25–26 mm bridge, engineered for faces in the 153-163 mm range. Outside that, bespoke covers 145 to 160 mm with a 20–26 mm bridge. Use our AI Fit Wizard to confirm the right fit for your face.

What counts as oversized sunglasses for men?
We use the front width as the honest measure. Oversized starts at 155 mm. Woolet's standard front is 158 mm, with bespoke covering 145 to 160 mm. Most mainstream men's sunglasses are 138–148 mm.
Which shape suits a wider face better?
Both work at 155 mm+. The 009 soft square reads as more architectural and matches angular faces; the 007 round softens square or wider-set features. If you are unsure, the AI Fit Wizard suggests a shape based on your face proportions.
What lenses do the sunglasses use?
UV400 sun lenses as standard — 100% UVA/UVB protection, category 3 tint in grey or brown. $210 for the complete pair. The same frame is $190 as eyeglasses with demo lenses ready for your prescription.
Will they fit over my prescription glasses?
No — these are designed as either standalone sunglasses or prescription sunglasses. Bring the frame to your optician for tinted Rx lenses.
How do they sit on a wide nose?
The 26 mm keyhole bridge on the 007 and the 25 mm bridge on the 009 are engineered specifically for wider noses — wider than the 18–20 mm bridges typical of mainstream oversized frames — so the frame distributes weight without riding up.
What is the delivery timeline?
Signature 158 mm frames ship from stock. Bespoke frames are hand made in the EU and take two weeks from confirmed measurements to shipping.
